Title: Giving Back to Charity: Our Commitment to Making a Positive Impact

At Merco, we believe in the power of giving back, and we’re committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve.

At the heart of our company is a clear purpose: to make a difference. We strive to deliver a service that improve people’s lives, and our commitment to this is amplified when we recognise an extremely remarkable cause, which is what happened when we chose Purple Heart Wishes as our Charity of the Year.

Purple Heart Wishes is a charity based in the UK that grants wishes to adults who have been diagnosed with a terminal illness aged between 18–55. It’s a cause that truly makes a difference; allowing people to cherish moments and make memories with the people they love.

In this blog, we thought we’d tell you a little bit about what it means to be Merco’s COTY and highlight our volunteering efforts so far in 2023.

The charity receives a percentage of the kiosk takings as a donation.

It’s fast-paced volunteering but it’s also a laugh a minute, as quite a few Merco team members will tell you.

In April, our Area Managers Kelly Evans and Paul O’Donoghue showed that they had nerves of steel as they braved jumping out of a plane, all in aid of Purple Heart Wishes.

Together, they raised over £1000! Well done Kelly and Paul!

When the football season ends, concert season starts! This year, huge artists Coldplay and The Weeknd played at the Etihad, and Purple Heart Wishes had the amazing opportunity to get back into the beer kiosks to raise money.

Can you spot Merco’s very own Paul, Kelly & Neil in the pictures? It was really good fun and over the 5 nights, we raised over £10,000 for Purple Heart Wishes!

What.A.Weekend.

In 2022, Parklife founder Sacha Lord became a Patron of Purple Heart Wishes, so this year the charity found itself in the centre of the action at the popular festival with two stalls. We sold water, hoodies, sweets and more! It was a weekend none of us will ever forget and all for the most special cause.

So far, it’s been an incredible 2023 supporting Purple Heart Wishes and we’re very excited about what’s to come.

Together, we can create a profound and lasting impact in the areas that PHW focuses on. By supporting their mission through donations, volunteering, spreading the word, and participating in fundraising events, we can make a tangible difference in people’s lives.
